Meet Louise
Louise has lived in Genoa Township for more than 10 years with her husband, Scott, and twin 11 year old boys, Anthony and Nicholas, who attend Westerville City Schools.
Although Louise grew up in in Northeast Ohio, and graduated from Elyria High School, she has called Central Ohio home for more than 20 years, first coming to the area when she began her college education at The Ohio State University. Louise graduated with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Ohio State in Consumer Sciences and spent more than 12 year in quality assurance and consumer testing roles at two different corporate headquarters for major retail brands here in the area.
In 2018, Louise shifted gears and got involved in civics and advocacy, ultimately running for State Senate in 2018 (district 19) on a platform largely focused on full and fair state funding for public education. After narrowly losing this race, Louise joined LEAD Ohio as the Deputy Director, designing and facilitating training programs and educational support for emerging progressive leaders around the state. In 2022, Louise ran for the State House (district 61), focusing, again, largely on pro-public education policies and initiatives. Although she ran in a district she was not favored to win, Louise wanted to give voters another choice on the ballot and bring attention to the race and issues of importance to the district, particularly around public education. Louise did not win the State House seat, but there was a silver lining in that she has been able to continue her work at LEAD Ohio and was promoted to Executive Director in January of 2023, now managing a team of 6 full time associates.
While running for office was not initially on her radar this year, when she was approached to consider running for Westerville School Board she decided to take on the challenge and is proud to have the chance to serve her community in this way. Public education has always been a passion for Louise and serving on the Westerville Board of Education to help collaborate for positive change in Westerville schools would truly be an honor.
When not at her full-time job or managing the daily life of a family of four, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, gardening, playing piano, watching Buckeyes sports, and snuggling with her two Shiba Inu fur-babies (Jun and Nikko).
